Dear friends,

For more than 15 years, I’ve journeyed through the depths of hurt and healing following a devastating divorce. It was a time that shattered my world, as I lost not just my marriage but my entire support network in one fell swoop.

The pain was compounded by the realization that I had been in an abusive relationship, leaving me spiritually bankrupt and emotionally adrift.

In those dark days, I found myself struggling to make ends meet, working tirelessly as a chef for a meager wage while grappling with feelings of isolation and uncertainty.

I vividly recall walking to work because I couldn’t afford gas and sleeping on the floor with just my cats by my side. It was a period of profound despair, where each day felt like an uphill battle for survival.

Yet, amidst the turmoil, I discovered a lifeline: cooking. This simple act became my sanctuary, providing solace and a sense of purpose.

At 34, during what was undoubtedly the hardest year of my life, I took a leap of faith and enrolled in culinary school. It was there that I began to rebuild my shattered confidence and trust in my own decisions.

Eventually, I took a bold step forward by launching my own private chef business—a testament to my newfound resilience and determination to forge a new path.

But my journey didn’t stop there. I got tons of therapy, moved to a new state, pursued and completed my Master’s degree, and became a licensed Clinical Social Worker. (Independent Licensure).

Each milestone represented not just professional growth but a personal triumph over adversity and a reclaiming of my identity.

Today, as a therapist, I draw upon my own experiences of trauma and recovery to offer compassion and understanding to others who may be navigating their own difficult paths.

I know firsthand the pain of feeling abandoned and the confusion of conflicting messages from the world and the church. But I also know the transformative power of faith and resilience.

For more of my journey, check out my Chapter 14 of the  self-help book, “High Vibrational Wellness: Intuitive Healing Therapies to Nourish Your Body Temple.” It is born from my own experiences and insights into overcoming adversity and embracing healing through grounding and culinary therapy.

If you find yourself in a dark place right now, please know that it’s not too late. Healing is possible with support, whether through clinical guidance, prayer, or simply reaching out to someone who understands.

I’m here to offer that support and walk alongside you on your journey to healing and wholeness.

With heartfelt empathy,

Joy
